This week FaxZero, a provider of free internet fax services, reached 12 million faxes sent. These messages have been sent by users from FaxZero's website and mobile interface over the course of the last nine years.
"We hit 10 million faxes last year around this same time," said Kevin Savetz, creator of the site. "So almost exactly 2 million faxes have been sent in just one year. Even with the ubiquity of email and messaging, faxing still has a durable place in our society."
The service FaxZero provides is simple, effective and useful for business or personal purposes. Anyone can use the site or mobile interface to send up to five free faxes per day within the U.S. and Canada. Each fax can have up to three pages, plus a cover sheet.
For users who would like to send longer faxes (up to 25 pages each), the same service is available for only $1.99 per fax, with priority delivery and without the website's branding on the cover page. FaxZero also offers low-cost international faxing. International faxes are priced according to each country's phone rates, although faxes to England and Mexico are as low as $1.99. Another free service is the ability to fax your congressperson or senator.
FaxZero can send DOC, PDF, XLS, and PNG files, meaning that users can send anything from a Word document to a spreadsheet. A text box is provided to allow users the opportunity to create a cover page on the spot, although Savetz's company FreePrintable.net also offers free fax cover sheet designs at FreeFaxCoverSheets.net that can be easily downloaded and filled in.
"Many people don't fax every day, but there's almost always something that needs to be faxed on occasion—for rent, background checks, employment, and so on," Savetz said. "FaxZero can make it easy for anyone who doesn't have a fax machine. And with the mobile option, all you need is a phone to fax from anywhere."
Over the course of nearly ten years, FaxZero has been featured in U.S. News, Reuters and PC World. Savetz also runs FaxPrices.com, fax comparison guide that offers options and advice for choosing the best fax provider. His advice can also be found at FaxAnswers.com, which answers fax questions sent in by readers.
