The Importance of Earning a Coaching Certification

You’ve decided to become a coach!

Congratulations on joining a rewarding and rapidly growing profession.
One of the most important decisions you’ll need to make is whether to earn a coaching certification.

This was a very important decision in my coaching development and I have achieved and maintained my PCC (Professional Coach Certification) as well as becoming a CMC (Certified Mentor Coach) with inviteCHANGE.

Choosing to pursue a coaching certification is both a personal and professional investment and you’ll want to make your decision carefully. It’s also likely that obtaining a certification will increase both your professional credibility and confidence.

International Coach Federation, Coaching Certification

According to the International Coach Federation’s (ICF) 2014 Consumer Awareness Study, 83% of individuals who have participated in a coaching relationship believe it’s important for a coach to possess a certification or credential. Additionally, respondents who have worked with a certified or credentialed coach are 15% more likely to recommend coaching to others.

We’ve learned that the best certification programs are quite rigorous. Most require you to complete comprehensive training, work closely with a mentor coach, and demonstrate your coaching skills first hand. A well structured certification process will provide you with the opportunity to hone the skills you need to assist your clients in achieving their goals.

As the coaching profession continues to grow, the expectations of our clients may increase. Your ability to demonstrate state-of-the-art coaching skills will significantly impact your ability to retain satisfied clients and increase your “word of mouth” marketing.

Once you’ve decided to earn a certification, your next step is to identify the program you want to attend. There are multiple factors to consider when making this important decision such as: the level of certification you would like to achieve, your coaching specialty, your preferred training format, and the cost structure that fits your budget.

My friends Audrey and Matthew at CoachCertifications.com have created a “one-stop shop” to help you select the training program that is right for you. You have the ability to research and compare schools from all of the major accrediting bodies in the coaching industry as well as read reviews from coaches who have completed certification training programs.

We know how challenging it can be to find the coach training program that is right for you. CoachCertifications.com is dedicated to providing coaches the resources needed to make this important decision.

My heartfelt thanks to Audrey and Matthew for talking on this profession-changing challenge.

Looking forward! Garry
