Alaska TV Reporter Quits to Support Legalization, Run Marijuana Club

The Internet has been on fire since Sunday night with the tale of a TV reporter in Alaska who abruptly quit during a live broadcast after revealing her ownership stake in a cannabis business she had just featured in a report.

Charlo Greene ? a journalist for the CBS Anchorage affiliate KTVA ? said she chose the dramatic exit to ?draw attention? to a marijuana legalization measure in the state.

Green had just concluded a report featuring a business called the Alaska Cannabis Club. After revealing that she owns the club, Greene said straight to the camera, ?Now everything you?ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska.?

Greene then announced she was quitting her TV gig ? emphasizing her decision with an expletive ? and walked off the set.

The Alaska Cannabis Club was founded in April, with the aim of connecting patients to caregivers and cultivators.

In November, Alaska voters will weigh in on Ballot Measure 2, which would legalize recreational marijuana in the state the same way that Colorado and Washington State already have.
