Whether you should keep writing or focus on promoting your book depends on several factors, including your goals, the current status of your book, and your personal preferences. Here are some considerations to help you decide:

Book Status: First, assess the current state of your book. Is it already published, or is it still in the manuscript stage? If it's not published yet, you may want to prioritize completing and polishing your book before focusing on promotion.

Goals: Consider your goals as an author. Are you looking to establish yourself as a writer, build a readership, make a profit, or simply share your story or ideas? Your goals will influence your decision.

Promotion: Promotion is crucial to get your book in front of potential readers. Even if your book is already published, effective promotion can help boost sales and visibility. However, promoting a book is an ongoing effort, so you may need to balance it with your writing time.

Writing: If you have more books or projects in mind, continuing to write can be important for your long-term success as an author. Consistently producing new content can help you attract and retain readers.

Marketing Plan: Evaluate your marketing plan. Do you have a strategy in place for promoting your book? If you have a well-thought-out marketing plan, it may be a good time to start implementing it.

Time and Resources: Consider your available time and resources. Both writing and promotion can be time-consuming activities. Be realistic about how much time you can allocate to each.

Audience Engagement: Engaging with your readers and building a community can be an important part of an author's career. This can involve social media, book signings, author events, and more. It's worth dedicating some time to connect with your audience.

Feedback and Iteration: If you've already published your book, feedback from readers can be valuable for future writing endeavors. You may want to take reader feedback into account when planning your next project.

Ultimately, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. It's often a balancing act between writing and promoting, and the right balance will depend on your specific circumstances and goals. Many successful authors continue to write while promoting their existing work, as building a portfolio of books can lead to more opportunities and a growing readership over time. Consider creating a schedule that allows you to allocate time to both activities and adjust it based on your progress and priorities.
