Carol Baroudi is the Research Director of Aberdeen?s Green IT practice. Her latest book, Green IT for Dummies, was published by Wiley & Sons in April 2009. A seasoned industry analyst and best-selling author, she leverages her deep industry expertise to identify, investigate, educate and make concrete recommendations.
Under the rubric of Green IT, the practice will investigate all the ways to make IT itself greener, including virtualization, consolidation, and greener data center practices. Research will look at current and impeding environmental regulations that impact IT and the organization as a whole. In collaboration with other Aberdeen practices, we look at ways in which IT can help organizations become more sustainable such as through greener procurement, automated facilities management, managing alternative energy sources, collaboration, responsible asset disposal, and green innovation.
Baroudi?s earlier books include The Internet for Dummies, Service Oriented Architecture for Dummies, Mastering COBOL, Email for Dummies, and Internet Secrets and Network Access for Dummies. Prior to Aberdeen, she was CEO and Founder of Baroudi Bloor International, Vice President at Hurwitz Group, Manager, Information Architecture at Sun Microsystems; and Manager of Systems Engineering at Arthur D. Little Systems.
Baroudi holds a B.A. from Colgate University and is a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where she is contributing to the university?s Sustainability Assessment.
