In a recent Lio cartoon, our little friend Lio is walking by a cemetery, which sports a “Free WiFi” sign among the crowded tombstones.  You have to wonder, is it for the residents to use — or the visitors?

Over the past few years, a number of programs and apps were developed and designed to help the living interact with memories of the deceased, in the cemetery. One service that continues to stand out is Qeepr.com. They offer online memorials that can be geo-tagged to a final resting place (with precise cemetery directions).

This assumes that cemeteries find ways to stay relevant in a time of climbing cremation rates. How do they entice the growing percentage of people choosing cremation to invest in a permanent final resting place? Free WiFi is not such a bad idea.

Remember when QR codes were all the rage, only three years ago? I’m not hearing much about them any more. How about you?
